2024 New Hope Improvement Association PruittHealth-Carolina Point Christmas Benefit

PruittHealth Carolina Point, Mt. Sinai Rd. Durham, NC

Since the start of the COVID pandemic, the New Hope Improvement Association has provided personalized gifts for Pruitt residents and gift cards for patient-care staff.

Many PruittHealth-Carolina Point residents are Medicaid recipients with limited resources, and some have no family in the area. Typically our gift bags include things like blankets, slippers, robes, and books.

The dedicated, hard-working staff are truly are an inspiration. Torrence Williams, Activities Director, said:

“We are so humbled by your generosity and care.  We can’t thank the Association enough for all you did to bless the lives of our residents and staff.  The residents are still talking about the Christmas Social and how your gifts blessed each one of them.”

We hope you will participate in this benefit. Any amount makes a difference!

You can make a secure donation online or via check made out to New Hope Improvement Association, PO Box 16013, Chapel Hill NC 27516-6013. Please put “Pruitt” in memo line.

Thank you for making this a happy holiday for the Pruitt residents and staff.

Happy holidays to all!

2022 PruittHealth Carolina Point Christmas Wish Benefit

PruittHealth’s activity director on last year’s benefit:

“The residents were clearly excited and thrilled with their personalized gifts such as blankets, pajamas and special food items. Additionally, your contribution helped to give 59 hourly and patient-care staff thirty-dollar grocery gift cards.”

Our goal for this year is to raise $3,000 to support 90 patients and 60 patient-care staff members. The NHIA will provide the first $1,000 and for the remaining we ask for donations.

We are hoping to make this another special holiday season for the residents and staff at PruittHealth.

Please be a part of this and donate through our website or mail a check to:

NHIA, PO Box 16013, Chapel Hill, NC 27516-6013

Thank you so much for your support!

Christmas Benefit for PruittHealth

Last year, the New Hope Improvement Association members and community provided holiday gift bags filled with specific requests for each of the 90 residents at PruittHealth on Mt. Sinai Road. In addition to gifts of slippers, blankets and robes, we were able to give some residents watches, earbuds, and a gold cross necklace. We were also able to provide grocery gift cards for staff members. We are hoping to make this another special Christmas for the residents and staff at PruittHealth.

Please be a part of this wonderful benefit and donate through our website at https://newhopeimprovement.square.site or mail a check to NHIA, PO Box 16013, Chapel Hill, NC 27516-6013. Please put PruittHealth Benefit in the memo.

Thank you so much for supporting this Christmas Benefit.

“Last year I wasn’t expecting anything and I was so happy to receive my bag and to know I was not forgotten.” – PruittHealth Resident

2021 New Hope Turkey Run Cancelled

Due to the ongoing Pandemic, Duke Forest is limiting the size of groups visiting the Forest and they will not allow something the size of the Turkey Run at this time.  We have already printed the Tshirts which are long sleeved and a great color combination.  We don’t ever have dates on  the Tshirts so we’ll be able to use them next year!  We do plan on having the Turkey Run next year – November 12,2022 – so stay in shape.  And stay safe!  The Tshirt sponsors should be supported for donating funds for what turned out to be next year’s shirts and they are listed below.

9th Street Active Feet, in Durham

Family Fare Stores, all over the Triangle

            Carolina Godiva Track Club

New Hope Animal Hospital, between Durham and Chapel Hill

Thanks everyone and see you next November.

Holiday Greetings

We don’t have to tell you that it’s been a difficult year. All events, including annual elections have been cancelled, and all officers and Board members have agreed to continue their roles for the coming year. We plan to have elections in November 2021. More information will be sent to membership as the time draws closer.

We do have one NHIA project planned before the end of 2020. NHIA is collecting funds for gifts and needed supplies for the residents and staff of PruittHealth-Carolina Point, on Mt. Sinai and Kerley Road. This facility was hit hard early in the Pandemic and they desperately need some holiday cheer as well as day to day necessities. They have no churches or other non-profits who’ve reached out to them. The Activity Director shared with us the Wish List of the residents. Many of the requested items are things like: blankets, socks, body wash, head phones, watches,
and coloring books.

We invite you to donate to this effort at http://store.newhopeimprovement.com. Checks can also be made to NHIA with PruittHealth in the memo line and sent to New Hope Improvement Association, PO Box 16013, Chapel Hill, NC 27516-6013. In order to minimize contagion, the purchased gifts will be collected and delivered by one person. Helping those in the community has always been one of the missions of NHIA and it seemed appropriate to close out this “lean year” with this major project.

We sincerely hope we will be able to resume our annual activities including Ice Cream Social and the Turkey Run in 2021 and we will also reschedule events planned for this year for 2021 once “the way is clear.” Our best to everyone. Stay safe.
